(Neo Plants 1991) [Med] From England comes this wildly popular, creamy-centered sport of the old standard Hosta 'Halcyon'. A real chameleon in hostadom, the history is that a sharp-eyed hosta aficionado spotted this plant in the “compost pile” at a nursery and asked if she could have it. As the old saying goes, the rest is history. 'June' has distinctive gold leaves with striking blue-green margins which stand out in lightly-shaded beds and woodland gardens. Depending on where it is located, and the amount of light it receives, it can look like a totally different plant – enough to make you say “what is that one?”
Then seeing that it is 'June' brings out the “heel-of-the-hand on the forehead – Duh” factor. She produces pale lavender flowers on showy scapes above the foliage in summer. Heavy, substantial foliage resists slug damage. Selected as 2001 Hosta of the Year. This is one tough hosta you will treasure for years to come.
